Beat the Heat (WA) Inc was formed in 2005 by the former members of the defunct WA Police Tango 1 Police Drag Racing Team under the continued management and guidance of Mike Pearson.

Beat the Heat (WA) Inc is a 100% community based anti-street racing program and is a registered incorporated ‘Not for Profit’ association in Western Australia. This ensures the longevity of the program. Road Safety is a community problem and as such Beat the Heat (WA) Inc relies solely on donations and sponsorship from businesses and the community to operate.

The main aim of the Beat the Heat (WA) Inc is to reduce the incidents of illegal street racing on Western Australian roads by encouraging participation in the sport of drag racing in a safe and controlled environment.

The Beat the Heat (WA) team continues to support the Perth Motorplex by joining young racers every Wednesday at off street ‘Whoop Ass’ off street events and National competitions. The team regularly appears at numerous public events and shows throughout the year to promote road safety.

The intended outcomes of the program are to address and reduce the incidence of high-risk behavior by young drivers through education and police involvement in motor sport and to break the cycle of ‘risk-taking’ behavior by encouraging young drivers to explore their cars in safety through participation in motor sport. The initiative is designed to bring about a change in culture amongst young drivers that promotes an attitude of responsible driving behavior and acceptance of the road rules in the community. To redirect the ‘thrill seeking’ associated with offending behavior on the roads into a positive, legal, safe and fun motor sport activity. These objectives are within the scope of this initiative and are brought about by positive interaction between police and young drivers through the common interest of motor sport.
